Veterans' Disability Appeals
We handle Veterans’ disability claims no matter where you live. While based in Asheville, NC, we can help you over the phone and by mail. There is no fee unless you win your case. A consultation with an attorney is free.
Our practice is led by Attorney Cynthia Harbin Holman, a VA-accredited attorney and a sustaining member of NOVA (National Organization of Veterans' Advocates).
We are experienced veterans' disability attorneys in a firm that focuses exclusively on disability claims. Our families include disabled vets, so we personally understand the process you and your family are going through. We are honored to help you obtain the benefits you are entitled to receive from a grateful nation.
What we do:
For veterans, we handle disability compensation claims. We listen to your story. We assess your claim, and provide honest feedback. We work diligently to secure the best outcome that the law allows. We stick with you all the way, from the Regional Office ("RO") to the Board of Veterans Appeals ("BVA") to the appellate courts ("CAVC" and "CAFC"). We get paid only when we win, typically 20% of the back benefits.
For fellow attorneys, we offer consultation on veterans' benefits questions at reasonable rates to assist you as you serve your clients. Elder law attorneys call us for help incorporating benefits such as Aid and Attendance ("A&A") into their plans for their most vulnerable clients.
How we are different from other veterans service organizations:
We focus solely on disability compensation benefits. Retaining a licensed attorney can give you a leg up in pursuing your claim. The BVA's own reports demonstrate the successes of attorney-represented veterans. We have good relationships with VSOs and VFWs and DAV case workers, and while we agree that all of your hard-won benefits should be yours, we think that the incentive we have to help you enhances our efforts. We respect and cooperate with these other individuals to your full advantage. Also, VSOs can work on your claims for health care, pension, and education while we pursue your disability claim, using all of our resources and attention.
Who our clients are:
We work with veterans of peacetime and war. We help veterans' dependents. We assist with veterans from all branches of the military--Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force. We help claims related to traumatic brain injury ("TBI"), post-traumatic stress injury ("PTSD"), Agent Orange exposure. Clients have obtained total disability benefits for individual unemployability ("TDIU" or "IU").
